Divorce and Family Law Attorney and Mediator
Choose the affordable, efficient, and family-focused path to divorce.
Divorce will always be difficult, but it doesn’t need to be agonizing. It doesn’t need to take over your life, destroy your mental health, or spend down your life savings.
Whether you have three kids and millions of dollars in assets, or you and your spouse just rent an apartment together, the legal process of dissolving a marriage is complicated and confusing.
Let me help you find a resolution.
Areas of Practice
Divorce Mediation
Mediation is a family-focused process. I have expertise in New York State divorce and family law and I’ll guide you and your spouse to make all the decisions that need to be made to conclude your marriage with dignity. Mediation is efficient, affordable, private, and allows you to keep control over your family’s future.
Family Mediation
Do you and your spouse argue over finances, housekeeping and childcare issues, or other practical matters? You want solutions to these issues and you don’t want to end your marriage. Consider family mediation. It’s not therapy or counseling. I can help you find practical solutions to issues causing conflict (I can also recommend a mental health professional for you to work with in tandem).
Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreement Mediation
Prenup (and postnup) agreements aren’t romantic, but they can provide a sense of assurance. In a prenuptial mediation, I’ll help you plan for the unlikely event your marriage ends in divorce. More importantly, prenup mediation also includes complete financial disclosures by both parties and you and your spouse will clearly articulate your expectations when it comes to finances, including expense sharing, budgeting, saving, and how to build your future. Prenup mediation will start your marriage off on the right foot.
Review Attorney
You’ve already come to an agreement in mediation but now you need your own attorney to review the agreement and provide legal advice. Are you worried that a traditional divorce lawyer will just cause problems and blow up your agreement? As a review attorney, I’ll make sure that you’re fully informed, understand your legal rights and obligations, and that you're comfortable with the agreement, while also respecting the mediation process.
Uncontested Divorce
If your divorce is extremely simple (no children under 21, no property titled in joint names, no shared bank accounts, no need for spousal maintenance), you can proceed with an uncontested divorce. I’ll prepare a packet of documents for your review and signature, file those documents with the court, and monitor your case to let you know when the divorce is finalized.
